Choose quality racks and shelving from our range for storing materials, goods, tools or pallets. At Hagro you will find solutions for smaller spaces as well as large warehouse halls. Every rack is designed with an emphasis on stability, safety and easy handling. Our range includes warehouse racks that improve the organisation of your space and reduce clutter:
Shelving units: Universal shelving suitable for workshops, warehouses, garages and archives. They are mainly used for storing boxes, tools, materials or smaller goods. In garages and car workshops they are also often used for storing tyres and seasonal accessories.
Pallet racks: Robust racks designed for storing pallets and heavy materials. Thanks to their high load capacity, they are particularly suitable for warehouses, logistics centres and production halls.
Cantilever racks: Special racks designed for storing long or oversized materials such as pipes, timber, boards or steel profiles.
Proper organisation of materials and goods can reduce handling time by up to 25%. Time savings, efficiency and organisation are the main reasons why companies increasingly invest in modern racking systems.
What does a metal rack do?
A metal rack lets you store things vertically instead of on the floor. On the same floor area you gain several levels, each item has its place and you can reach it without moving the others. A 2 m high rack with four shelves therefore holds four times as much on roughly one square metre as would fit on the floor.
Compared with a wooden or plastic rack, a metal rack has a higher load capacity, does not warp under load and withstands damp, dust and oil. It is therefore suitable for workshops, garages and cellars, as well as for warehouses or businesses where items are handled every day.
The specific function is determined by the type of rack. Shelving units are universal storage for tools, boxes, tyres or supplies. Pallet racks are used to store palletised goods, and cantilever racks for long materials such as pipes, profiles or boards.
Advantages and disadvantages of metal racks
A metal rack is the most versatile choice for storage, but it too has its limits. Most of them can be solved by choosing and positioning it correctly.
Advantages of a metal rack
High load capacity: the shelves of a Hagro shelving unit carry up to 300 kg, and up to 500 kg in the 2T version.
Use of vertical space: on the same floor area you gain several levels and an overview of everything you have stored.
Durability: metal does not warp under load and withstands damp, dust, oil and impacts.
Expandability: you can later connect further modules to the basic unit and extend the metal rack as needed.
Long service life and easy maintenance: it only needs an occasional clean.
Disadvantages and what to watch out for
Overloading: if you exceed the load capacity of a shelf, it may be damaged or lose stability. Choose the load capacity with a margin.
Uneven floor: a metal rack needs a level, solid floor. An uneven or soft surface can be levelled with recycled plastic flooring, for example.
Anchoring: it is safer to anchor taller and more heavily loaded racks to the floor or wall.
Corrosion in damp conditions: without a surface finish, steel can rust over time in a damp cellar.
Wrong type: pallets belong on pallet racks, long materials on cantilever racks. A shelving unit is not built for them.
How to choose a rack or metal shelving?
When choosing a rack, the most important thing is to focus on how it will be used and the required load capacity. Bear in mind that you will need a different rack for a small workshop than for a large warehouse with palletised goods. For a large warehouse, pallet racks are useful, as they allow easy handling of pallets.
First decide what you will store: For lighter materials, shelving units are sufficient; for pallets or heavy goods, robust racks with a higher load capacity are more suitable. The height of the warehouse and the available storage space are also important.
Material is an important factor too: Steel and metal racks have very high strength and a longer service life. Galvanised racks are also suitable for damper spaces or industrial halls.
For larger warehouses, we recommend thinking about future expansion: A modular rack allows additional sections to be added easily without replacing the whole assembly.
Metal racks for workshops, garages, cellars and warehouses
Workshop rackFor a workshop we recommend a metal rack with a load capacity of at least 300 kg per shelf. Hagro shelving units have 4 levels with a capacity of up to 300 kg, or up to 500 kg in the reinforced version.
Garage rackShelves with a 300 kg capacity easily carry a set of wheels with rims. If you store several sets, choose a tyre rack.
Cellar rackA damp cellar calls for a metal rack with an anti-corrosion finish. Do not place it right against the wall, so that air can circulate behind it.
Warehouse rackBoxes and loose goods go on a warehouse shelving unit, palletised goods on pallet racks. We recommend anchoring taller racks.
